Sorry, my bad

Bearing in mind the opening of the new section was put back a few times, I'd take that with a pinch of salt. I drive the new bit regularly and the new bit's not completely finished yet. Some are the bridges across still aren't done and don't look to be progressing particularly quickly. And the old A30 just east of Chiverton cross, where the roundabout used to be still looks to be impassable.Jeremy Bond wrote: ↑11 Dec 2024, 11:55am It appears the A30 old road in Cornwall between Chiverton and Carl and will be not be fully operational until the Spring, according to National Highways.
There's an East Coast route???Kevin67 wrote: ↑11 Dec 2024, 7:49am Can't help with the section along the canal but everything else looks good. I have walked sections of it and it varies from a nice wide track to a narrow rutty path.
You've managed to avoid Northwich which is good as its very busy with traffic and generally horrible. The roads and villages to the east are quite nice byley
Lach Dennis pickmere or even Knutsford and go through tatton Park could be an alternative if you want to avoid canals.
I'm in the process of planning myself. Probably going to go the east coast route
Thanks for this. Am I going to be OK using the A3095 towards Goonhaven?DaveBeck wrote: ↑12 Dec 2024, 7:19amBearing in mind the opening of the new section was put back a few times, I'd take that with a pinch of salt. Yesterday when I drove east along a three mile coned off section, there were more of the Highways staff planting trees and gardening than seemed to be working on the bridges.
Yes. There is a link on this forum somewhere.puffin wrote: ↑13 Dec 2024, 6:29amThere's an East Coast route???Kevin67 wrote: ↑11 Dec 2024, 7:49am Can't help with the section along the canal but everything else looks good. Just had to re organise due to the lack of bicycle carrying trains in mid to late June from Wick, so I've moved the trip forward by 10 days. The only problem was there being no bike spaces on the midday train from wick, so I've on arriving at JOG I have to then cycle straight down to Wick to stay the night ready to get the 8.02 train in the morning.puffin wrote: ↑3 Feb 2025, 10:16am Yea!! all accommodation booked!, Penzance, Camelford, Cullompton. Chew Magna, Ross on Wye, Much Wenlock, Leigh, Bentham, Brampton, Peebles, Perth, Kingussie, Dingwall, Altnaharra, JOG.
I haven't been on the bike since tearing cartilage in July last year....but have been working hard in the gym so I'm feeling confident.
962 miles, 55700 feet in climbs.
I've done that before - the wind direction on the day was from the N / NE so actually it was the easiest part of the whole day, I did the 17 miles to Wick in 50 minutes! Belting tailwind the whole way.
You don't HAVE to, you could take a spin out to Duncansby Head hang your feet over the cliff edge, relax and appreciate the natural beauty around you on land and sea, maybe catch a puffin for your evening meal.
