You mentioned road closures in the OP. Is there a national network you can check? That would be very helpful.

In Scotland you can check out https://www.roadworksscotland.org/

Thanks, that’s helpful for Scotland. As far as I’m aware it is at LA level in England which requires some local knowledge. The description is also highly variable and often hard to interpret even if you know the area. It would be really useful to at least have an indication if pedestrians can pass, meaning cyclists could at least dismount. 9 times out of 10 you can cycle through, just occasionally you come to a bridge down and a long detour.
