I did notice the argument that big pharma get rich on drawing out the deaths of the terminally ill.

Like many people, I have long had it in mind that if I ever received the news that I have a terminal illness, I would find out how the final weeks would be, and end my own life before then if I judged it best. To do that I would need to be capable of doing it, which would mean not leaving it too late. But if the NHS offered assisted dying, I could afford to leave it later, and perhaps then choose to not request it at all.
