Vuelta 2025 - possible spoilers

Post by TrevA »

Protests on todays stage finish into Bilbao, led to the stage having to be cut short.

There were pro-Palestinian protests on other stages too, with protesters trying to disrupt the Israel-Premiertech team’s ride in the TTT. Also protests yesterday caused a crash in the peloton.

It’s been an interesting race so far, with the lead changing hands a few times and Tom Pidcock doing well, now 3rd overall.

As I posted elsewhere: If they're going to allow IPT to sportswash its owner's homeland, they're going to be at risk of things like this, and attempting to get us to bash the host country's public opinion by declaring no winner is stupid and a disservice to fans everywhere. What are they thinking? Are they too out-of-touch to realise IPT is contraversial, or too inept to have a better fallback plan?

Protesters did disrupt IPT's time trial and times were adjusted later to compensate, but who knows if it really did? It's not like IPT are contesting the podium, with their big star Derek Gee reportedly wanting a transfer. https://cyclinguptodate.com/cycling/cyc ... ej-pogacar

Yes, it was all a bit odd yesterday. They could have called the finish at the top of the last climb with around 5km to go yesterday, rather than a random 3k to go, which was in the middle of nowhere.

Pidcock must be really miffed. :x
Had a chance of a stage win and how did the organisers decide on the times etc.

Plenty of flag waving but thankfully no incidents on today’s stage, at least for the leading groups.
