Many on this forum are keen on the Zefal HPX pump which came in different lengths in order to fit different sizes of frame. I am.

It's the same the whole world over
It's the poor what gets the blame
It's the rich what gets the pleasure
Isn't it a blooming shame?

And they can be kept going for years, with very little TLC.Mike Sales wrote: 4 Sep 2025, 9:50pmMany on this forum are keen on the Zefal HPX pump which came in different lengths in order to fit different sizes of frame. I am.

Or a 20-30 mile walk.rareposter wrote: 22 Aug 2025, 1:52pm Most of those will do about 4 full inflations before needing a recharge and that only takes 20-30 minutes.
I've had four punctures in a day, the first time on a 60 mile ride, and the latter just 16 miles.rareposter wrote: 22 Aug 2025, 3:07pmif you're getting 3-4 punctures per day, there's more pressing problems than the tyre inflator!
What do you mean by frame fitting, hoseless or the ones with a hose in the handle? My old aluminium pump with a hose lasted ~35 years before it got a fatigue fracture in the handle. After that I had a few plastic ones which were poor quality and didn't last, but what finally made me give up was that it became impossible to buy good quality hoses that didn't leak or burst after 4-5 inflations. I've never used any pump that I'd rather have over that old aluminium one that came with my Carlton in around 1972.

Re: Kit - Pump
People in our club use a variety of small/mini pumps for tubed tyres (and CO2 cartridges for tubeless).
I still carry a Zefal HPX frame fit pump. Every time someone has a puncture, they always ask to use my pump*.
Thus the voters have spoken as to which is the best pump (for inflating at least, the "voters" don't carry it about!).
*Useful, as I get very few punctures, so I don't have to periodically test the pump as the "voters" do it for me.

Re: Kit - Pump
The problem with some of the pumps mentioned above is they don’t include a gauge, which for my purposes is pre-requisite, even if you don’t need it.
On a recent 105 mile ride where two of us suffered flat tyres, proved the point when we thought we had inflated our tyres with two separate mini pumps, checked with our thumbs. We carried on for 10 more miles to a friend who lived 50 yds from our route. Using her stand pump with gauge showed 40 psi when I wanted 75 and my friend 80 psi.
I’m happy with the new pump although I’ve only used it in the garage.

Two wheels preferred.
