I’m Looking to buy first e-bike.
Neighbour just bought a CUBE Reaction Hybrid. Been considering a CUBE Reaction Hybrid One 800. these are around £2,700.
I like the mountain bike style, I’m not going to be serious off road, so mainly roads, cycle paths, Tow paths etc.
What other makes / models should I consider, at no higher than the £2,700
Assume hard tail, Bosch drive, Hydraulic disc brakes, 10 speed, non-step thru frame.
Help with make choice
Re: Help with make choice
The Cube is good value for money. Don't think there's much comparable at that price other than Canyon. Hardtail eMTBs aren't popular. They're not brilliant for either road cycling or proper mountain-biking, but they're fine for gentle off-road cycling like canal tow paths, etc. If you can stretch to £3k, a Trek Powerfly 4 has a better warranty on the frame and reputably better after-sales service. Some bike shops will give you a 10% discount on a Trek e-bike if you ask.

As mentioned above, Canyon. They've got their e-hardtail on offer at £2549 instead of £3299 at the moment.sargan wrote: 4 Oct 2025, 11:31am What other makes / models should I consider, at no higher than the £2,700

How does it work with Canyon if you buy an e-bike and need to get the electrics or motor fixed under warranty?rareposter wrote: 4 Oct 2025, 6:04pmAs mentioned above, Canyon. They have partner stores if it's Canyon-specific, otherwise any Bosch dealer can deal with a Bosch warranty (for example).Jezrant wrote: 4 Oct 2025, 7:57pm How does it work with Canyon if you buy an e-bike and need to get the electrics or motor fixed under warranty?
Same if it's a warranty with (eg) Rockshox or SRAM or Shimano - any dealer can assist. Some may pefer that you take it back to the place you bought it but that's not a legal requirement.
It'd be the same scenario if you bought a bike from a shop which closed down 6 months later. That doesn't invalidate any warranties, it just means you have to go elsewhere.
Canyon's customer service is very good but you do have to accept international postage (bikes are sent from Germany so it can mean up to a 3-week delivery time).
In the interests of full disclosure, I own a Canyon e-bike (which has been faultless) but other than owning a bike from them, I'm not connected with/to them.
