Front pannier rack

Post by Garry Booth »

Light front pannier rack suitable for bike with front fork eyes for fitting. Wheel size is 700 and would prefer colour black. I accept this is a tall order but thought it worth a try before I go to flea bay or god forbid buy a new one...

Have you thought about making your own. I made one to support a basket on my Twenty.
From this idea. https://bikepacking.com/gear/make-your- ... -rack-diy/

Thanks a lot guys. Hamster, can you tell me what model Blackburn lowrider you have as my Tange forks don't like the minimalist type? Or is yours the one with the loop that goes over the wheel?

RJB, I like the idea of homemade but I'm hopeless at DIY!

Here you go, it's the retrofit lowrider one with the hoop and also U bolts for the forks if you need them.
The Nimrod is identical (dare I say it's a copy?)

Nimrod vs Blackburn?
The Blackburn is the later version with the reinforcing (short) sleeve on the top end of the rod that goes down from the dropout, so the stronger design of the 2. Some racks did brake at the (now reinforced) hole.

I got one of these

Haven't actually tried it yet -- it is made of steel so is quite heavy. I used my aluminum one which is a lot lighter but not as big a platform to put stuff on. Also the alloy one hasn't got the low pannier bars so the front panniers sit a bit higher than I'd like -- still it's very light.

Sorry for the delay coming back but have been unwell over the weekend.
Thanks for all the input here everyone, especially hamster for taking the time to take pix, but I'm going to pass on these.
