Jorvik JMT13

Post by Karrier Bag »

Hello all.
I am new to E Bikes & Trikes and have a JMT 13 being delivered on Thursday, it was a kinda now or not be able to go shopping or anything thing.
Has anyone had any problems with them?
It only has the 250w motor but it is pretty flat where I am, tallest thing is a bridge over the canal and NO I am not looking at taking it for a ride down the canal, land rovers don't float as I found out so I know these won't either :D

I am lucky as Jorvik's main store is only 12 miles from my live on boat (Yes I live on a boat and drove my LR in the canal due to a seizure which was a bit embarrassing TBH and thats just the 1/10th of it).
So I was wondering if anything has come up with these Trikes to keep an eye out for (I only have one that works, eye that is ).
As a professional unicyclist for over 35 years I know a little bit about balancing and am also a mechanic but not with things like these, I am more a 60's-early 90's circus trucks with little, well none at all that had these things called Chips or Micro Twitches?
My son does, he has 3 or 4 self built E boards so I do have a lot of help there but knowing things to look out for is real helpful.

Thanks for your time reading this, even if you just skipped to the end.

My OH, when I first got to know her said she'd come out for a ride with me but only on a trike, so I found her several trikes, some cheap, some not so cheap. Then she said it has to be electric so Jorvik was an option then she said will it fit in her car, they do a folding one so it's possible but there was only one way to find out so a few days were booked in York.
We got to the old showroom and emptied the back of the car and folded the trike down and with a bit of wiggling we got a folded JMT9 into a 60 plate Kia Picanto. We both had a test ride and my OH took to it a lot easier than I did as I was used to riding 2 wheelers, when I rode her trike on the road the first few times I ended up in the gutter cause of the camber.
After ordering and paying for the trike there was a 4 week delivery time but we were in no hurry and specified a date when I was off work so I could build it up which took me a couple of hours as I had to fit mudguards, lights, etc. The only issue we've had is the lack of use. It lives outside folded under a tarapaulin and locked in the folded position with the wheel, seatpost and battery in the house.
My OH generally rides the trike on level 3 assist but there have been times, terrain dependant where she's turned the assist off completely and to see her riding solely under her own power makes me so proud of her.

My wife has a Jorvik Elite 2 - a bit different from what you've ordered but same maker. She's generally very pleased with it - only two problems:
a broken connector to the front light shortly after delivery, because the wires were cut rather short.Sadly Jorvik didn't send the right connector, but we sorted it out out with the help of an excellent motor spares place in Morecambe
and a bit high-geared for hilly North Lancs - but then you're presumably in the Vale of York so not so likely to be your problem, and the JMT might be set up differently as an off-road machine and has higher-voltage electrics.
Enjoy!
