Quick note on Kryptonite U Locks and stiff keys

Post by LittleGreyCat »

My original U Lock, a few years old, suddenly started to stick half way through the key turn.
Much lubrication later there was no improvement.

After checking on the FAQ at the Kryptonite site, I discovered that the bracket thingies on the U part can move, and so stop the lock part seating fully.
That is, the alloy bit on the U part which slots into a carrier on the frame.

A quick twiddle with a hex key and the bracket moved down the tube ever so slightly.
Now working as it should.

just to note; there are two different shackle diameters used by Kryptonite, so swapping the Al part around isn't always possible
