Re: Your Rough Stuff Photos
Thanks folks
With the amount of training I've done in the last 3 years, competing at some sort of level seems like an inevitable consequence of all those hours on the bike!
A few photos from last week when I was out with a Dutch cycling magazine:

How about some challengingly smooth stuff?
I had a trundle round the Brandon, Lakenheth, and Thetford area on Monday, and the sand outside of the forests makes for an interesting ride. It looks quite innocent in this photo, but in several places I was resolutely pedalling while remaining completely stationary.

That's a scary looking drop never mind the rough stuff!

Bit of history that rear sks mudguard.. started out black, then I spray painted it red to match a red red Thorn I had at the time. Now fitted to another Thorn bike, and I wasn't keen on the red, so got a bit creative with stickers and more paint ! No papier mache needed

Taking advantage of the shorter days and calm weather with an evening ride on the local trail.
The older I get the more I’m inclined to act my shoe size, not my age.

mixed-surface audax thru the Balmoral estate.
----------------
Same weekend, different estate (Mar Lodge; "Linn of Dee" up from Braemar, towards the Lairig Ghru pass):

Took my commuter - 33/35mm tyre, cantis, 1x8friction shift. Severely "underbiked" but perfectly rideable (I didn't take any pics of the more technical gravel in the Balmoral woods).

It gets a bit trickier after you turn right onto the Lairig Ghru path!mattheus wrote: 9 Oct 2025, 11:32am

Re: Your Rough Stuff Photos
Somewhere on YouTube is a video taken by a small group of cyclists doing “gravel” on the Balmoral Estate where they come across an older chap out walking, and get into conversation with him. The older chap is The King, who seems entirely relaxed and ‘natural’ in conversation with a random bunch of cyclists.

And so the excellent weather continues..

Further up towards the Lairig Ghru - we decided it wasn't really cyclable beyond this pointmattheus wrote: 9 Oct 2025, 11:32am https://photos.app.goo.gl/miHnxX9TGPEpFFM97
