I’ve seen on mopeds and motorbikes that they have hard shell boxes. Does anybody know of any for a bike that don’t cost a fortune please?
I did find one on amazon but the reviews weren't very good.
Thanks
Re: cleaning - my experience with Ortielb roll-tops is that being waterproof they are incredibly easy to clean.Jenjen82 wrote: 13 Oct 2025, 10:27am I have an e-bike that I use to commute to work. Ortlieb "Classic" bags with the smooth finish are indeed a doddle to keep clean (and have other advantages such as having really good fittings and being bombroof). Other waterproof bags, including the Ortlieb "Plus" range with a more textured outer face, can retain grime more easily.mattheus wrote: 13 Oct 2025, 12:48pmRe: cleaning - my experience with Ortielb roll-tops is that being waterproof they are incredibly easy to clean.Jenjen82 wrote: 13 Oct 2025, 10:27am I have an e-bike that I use to commute to work. (Might be even easier if they were box-shaped! But it's just a suggestion.)
Other fully waterproof bags exist.

That looks very interesting -- just wondered about weight comparison to the similarly priced ortliebs I have. For everyday use commuting etc they'd probably be better to use.pjclinch wrote: 13 Oct 2025, 11:10am Depends on your definition of "fortune", but yes, they exist, e.g. https://velobin.com/
My wife used to have one on her urban hack bike, it was okay, though she prefers a KLICKfix bar basket these days.
Pete.
I don't have a figure to hand (and she handed them on to someone a while back so I can't measure), but they're not obviously overweight. In the context of everyday commutes where they can live on the bike they're a good solution.Cowsham wrote: 13 Oct 2025, 8:02pmThat looks very interesting -- just wondered about weight comparison to the similarly priced ortliebs I have.
