I bought this new in 2004 from Edinburgh Cycles (receipt available). Always stored indoors, it wasn't used much at the time and hasn't been used for many years, but it has now been carefully serviced and overhauled and is possibly one of the best original examples of this vintage classic to be offered for sale. The bike has not been used since this work.
The paintwork to the double butted enhanced aluminium alloy frame is in fantastic condition, with just a few very minor marks, but you have to look hard to see them.
The V brakes have been replaced with a complete new hydraulic Deore disc brake system (this was an optional upgrade at the time, hence the available mounts), and this includes new TRP rotors (front V brake studs included). Everything else is original, except the bar grips and the Crud guards, which were an aftermarket addition at the time.
The anodising on the bars has faded from black to brown as photos.
The Manitou Axel fork has been serviced by my LBS.
New Specialized tyres have been fitted to match the originals.
The Deore triple chainring set up (22/32/44) gives a fantastic gear range, with a low of 16.7".
The 9 speed Shimano HG-50 cassette is 11-34.
Wheels are Sun Mach IV rims with Specialized Stout front hub and Shimano Deore M475 freehub rear (this has had a new rear axle fitted).
Tyres are new Specialized Crossroads FlakJacket 26 x 1.9" with new Specialized inner tubes. No pedals included.
Collection from Hereford, or arrange for your own courier (eg Paisley Freight) to send a box with packaging and I will carefully pack for them to collect.
