I like the helmets that have some sort of mesh insert. Getting an angry bug/wasp et al on your head
( hirsute or otherwise) is not fun.

Yes a must for me too -- though I wear a snood on my Baldy head.
1. For heat ( it's cold here )
2. It covers my ears so cuts down on wind noise / bugs in there too.
3. Bugs on my head.
4. When it gets sweat saturated I can change it or turn it around and I've something dry between my head and the helmet inside.
5. I can hand wash it below a tap in seconds -- throw it below a bungie on the rear rack and it's dry in no time. Hence I always carry two.
6. Nearly forgot -- keeps sun damage to a minimum on ears and back of the neck.

Such a simple little thing but makes a hell of a difference to comfort on a bike.
