Off-Road Routes within Cumbernauld

Post by WolfendenP »

I live in Cumbernauld and would like to find out off road routes within Cumbernauld. Not sure how many miles yet as I am a beginner, not sure if there are any flat routes or just different gradients?

I appreciate any help including where I can get hold of a cycle map

There are trails in Palacerigg Country Park, the towpath along Forth & Clyde Canal and the cycle route from Airdrie to Bathgate passing Hillend Reservoir. All traffic-free and flat. Your best bet is to buy the Ordnance Survey map for the area and search for off road paths. The basic details can be checked in a search engine and from there your cycling journey will expand. The paths reach out to Glasgow and Edinburgh if you want to venture further. I don't know of any Cumbernauld-centred cycling books but there are loads of options via Google.
