Does that contain any information on the sentences that are being passed?

Thanks

I was just answering your question as it reads. These are the guidelines. For what actually happens, I don’t know a source of data.

Van driver hit a cyclist from behind on a straight road in August 2024. The cyclist would have been visible for at least 8 seconds. edit The cyclist died at the scene.

Pleaded guilty to CARELESS driving but did at least stop at the scene. His lawyer said he was remorseful.

"Wade, 25, of Silkstone, Barnsley, was sentenced to 10 months in prison, suspended for two years, at Bradford Crown Court on Monday.

He was also ordered to do 200 hours of unpaid work for the community and banned from driving for three years."

Oh, forgot to mention that "The court heard Wade had no previous convictions but had received penalty points on his licence for using a mobile phone while driving in February 2024." although I am sure that this was not relevant to this case. There must be many other explanations as to why he didn't see the cyclist for 8 seconds on a straight road.

It's sad that this death* was almost exactly 2 years ago:
The court heard how Nash, from Giggleswick, had been riding on the single carriageway section of the road at about 04:50 BST on 6 August and was wearing a helmet with a light attached and his bike also had a rear light illuminated.
