I’m Paul, mid 50’s, never really cycled much before apart from when a child to get around when at school.

I enjoyed taking out a hire bike last week and now I want build up to longer rides.
Will be a little while before I get hold of my own bike, but my goal is to have a 50 mile ride under my belt by sometime next year.

Hi there!
My name is Peter, recently retired and took the time to refurbise the 40 year old bike from my father.
Spoiled it with a new handlebar, grips, freewheel and chain. Regreased all the bearings and it is running fine by now.
To overcome some small hills (only having 6 rear gears) I'm trying to replace the crankset with a 2x.

Hello, I'm Andy, I use the name beachcomber on this forum. I joined years ago but haven't posted for some 10 years.
I worked in a couple of bike shops from 2016 until 2024 when the last shop closed and I retired.
I haven't ridden hardly at all for three years due to injury but I intend to get back in the saddle this year, although I don't think I will take up audax again. I still have a garage full of bikes which I really should slim down.

Mainly for going to work or doing some grosseries and ofcourse for fun.
Even in wintertime when its not to bad weather.

Hi, I'm Andrew. I live in Brighton. I cycle around town on a converted 26" wheel steel MTB, on the South Downs on a steel 26" wheel MTB and have just bought a steel tourer as I want to get into that. I also own a 1990s Nigel Dean road bike and an aluminium Dawes CX bike but I'm thinking of selling one or both as I want to get to n-1.

I'm a member of the local Local Access Forum and also the Rough Stuff Fellowship.

Hello, I'm Andrew, a new Cycling UK member. I've been cycling since the 1980s. Took up sportives, cyclocross, and road racing in the 2000s. Long COVID has limited my exertions and excursions in the 2020s, which has necessitated the use of an e-bike. Unfortunately, I'm on my third e-bike because I've been hit by cars twice in the past two years (one classic SMIDSY I narrowly failed to avoid, one from behind that I never saw coming.) Trying to regain my confidence and enthusiasm.
