Kelly has grown on me- I don’t know if I’ve listened to Carlton too much or whether he’s been working on it but happy to listen to him now. Very much like Rob Hatch. I know the Mcewen hasn’t got the best rep as a person but I like him in commentary. Miss Ned Boulting but I don’t seem to be listening to his podcast very often.

Same here. I used to enjoy listening to the NSF podcasts during the tour (and at other times of the year too), but the 'for the love of cycling' branded ones are a bit too professional for my liking and don't hit the spot in the same way. There was a great NSF series at the start of the year where Ned went to the Tour de la Provence (I think?) and another reporting on the Pune Grand Tour which had the right mixture of cycling, anecdotes and random encounters that the FtLOC ones are missing.

Kelly really understands the sport and can give a load of insight, which is great for a niche presentation, but not for mainstream network coverage.

Now watching the other TDF, and thus far a very good race. Watching it via a VPN on NOS.nl (Dutch news service) and it's good coverage (what a ride from Sigrid Haugset yesterday!). Ellen van Dijk one of the commentators so you know you're in expert hands, and I can follow the majority of what she and and her co-commentator are saying rather better than I usually manage with Belgian commentary

Shame it's only partial coverage though, really ought to be the whole lot.

Yes, the host TV broadcaster France Televisions only has partial coverage, which limits everyone else. Radio coverage starts earlier. RMC has started now, mostly reviewing yesterday's stage, and Radio France's ICI will probably start soon. Both are available online to the UK, but are in French. I'm not sure if any English-language commentary is officially available, which seems like a missed opportunity.

I hope someone covers next year's stages well with commentary on broadcast radio, as past UC I races have seem UK mobile data networks collapse under the volume of people in unusual locations. I was very popular with a battery AM radio! These days, I'll probably need a DAB set & a USB battery pack.
