Celtic Trail gpx

Post by climo »

Has anyone got a gps track or better still a Garmin route of the "Celtic Trail" NCN 4 from Chepstow to Fishguard they could let me have?
I can't find it all online. I know OSM has it but can't figure out how to separate a route out from the mass of others.

I had it all planned out for some time ago but life intervened. Now I can't for the life of me find the info. :(

To download a GPX of a route on OSM, use the relation analyzer.
eg for that route, go to: http://betaplace.emaitie.de/webapps.rel ... ionId=2204
there's a link to download a GPX.
(it looks like that route has a few gaps in it on OSM).

For other NCN routes, go here: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Wiki ... nal_Routes
In the column for "Route relation(s)" it has for example "21909 b a r j". Click on the little "a" for the relation analyzer.

Living on the Celtic trail route, I would advise that Goretex was more of a necessity than GPX, given the weather we've been having lately.
Hope it dries up for your trip :)

Unfortunately though the whole of the Celtic Trail _is_ mapped on OSM (well, apart from a tiny gap in Pontypridd, and another in Newport where the route is incomplete anyway) it's not all in the relation so is difficult to download in one go. Sorry.

Why not just plot your own route in www.bikehike.co.uk using the map on the Sustrans website as a guide? Then download the route or track as gpx and away you go.

I have the Sustrans strip map and will transfer that to the garmin software but it's a time consuming job so hence the request. I've found around half the route as gps files online which is a great boon.

It looks like the trip will have to wait a few weeks as more stuff has got in the way. :(
Thanks for all the helpful replies.
