There are campsites along the way but not always conveniently spaced. Some are listed in the Cicerone Guide http://www.cicerone.co.uk/product/detai ... e-cycleway or information may be obtained from each site as to the next along the way, or try http://www.bergstrassebikebooks.com/cycletouring.html for information. The ADFC maps show campsites but you would need an up-to-date set (http://www.adfc.de/)

Hi
I have travelled throughout Europe a few years now and the best books to use for the route are BikeLine. They can be brought through Stanfords. I have just done the R1 route from Hook of Holland to Berlin but it goes onto St Petersberg and the BikeLine book shows the route, camping or B&B, and all information that would be needed on the way. A friend has cycled the Danube an he said the camping was great but not quiet the same as German standards.

There are a few things to know when travelling for instnace if you are using a 26in wheel tyres are hard to come by as t European tyres are 4 mm bigger even if they saw they are 26in.

Have a good ride.

Bye
Keith

is my route in July. Austria, Germany, Slovakia and Hungary have multiple sites and a lovely set of cycle-specific facilities. Vienna itself has Aktiv Camping in the city. After Hungary it gets a bit erratic. Ask if you want any specific info.

Beyond Hungary the best consolidated source of informaton is probably

www.Danube-info.org

The euro velo 6 website has a forum which may contain some info although last time I looked (May) it had had very few visitors.

For some broader info about Hungary, Serbia, Croatia mixed in with a bit of Danube cycling try:
