trying to upload photo without success
Sorry to ask for help again - I have been trying to upload a photo into the message without success. I dont know what I'm doing wrong as it worked in my 'for sale' posting.
It is a jpeg 3mb
I have tried to put it in this just to try but it has not worked.
I'm not very computer literate - sorry

I think there's a limit of 2mb, and the server will re-size the image anyway, so you could try re-sizing the image until it's not more than 600 pixels in either dimension. That'll make it a few hundred kilobytes, much quicker to upload.

Hi there,
I am also having problems getting an image into a reply.
I have discovered that the 'Upload picture' button in the 'Post a reply' window had no effect in my first browser.
Changing to another browser brought it to life although I don't know what is set different in the second browser.
What particular feature of a browser does it use?

Hi Graham,
Sorry to keep you up so late. My wine glass is keeping me up!
My photo is an Adobe Photoshop Jpeg file.
I'll play around with it in the morning. It was scanned some time back, and I've taken it off a CD I made of old family photographs.
I'll get back to you (after breakfast!).

What's telling you they're too large?

I've got my photographs onto the MB ok.
I'm not impressed with your image manipulation system. When I tried earlier today, I was told that the Image Size was too large. BUT I've just uploaded the original images from the camera, that is 1.5MB ish for each one. Not only that they're about 2000 pixels wide. So much for 550x300!
If I try to get the images down to what is supposed to be required, they're 'Too Large'. If I leave them 'raw' and 'far too big', they're ok!
Why? But, then again, all's well that ends well!

Can you e-mail me the reduced image that is "too large"? I haven't seen this before.
The size in pixels is the size after the server has shrunk the file for you. You should be able to shrink it yourself before uploaded, if only to save time on the upload.

Hi Mick F,
I have tested with the image files in question.
I did receive the "File size too large message" on the smaller image file.
What I noticed was that the File Properties on the larger file were as expected for an image file. The smaller file had lost its image properties.
I have opened and resaved the smaller file in an image editor ( GIMP ) and the image properties are present on the new file and it uploads OK.
I don't know what you did to resize the smaller file, but it lost its image properties and confused the Forum image upload procedure.
