Not as easy as you might think though.

Purely by coincidence I had my first go at striping this morning - and, no, it isn't as easy as it looks!

I kept getting blobs of paint that had to be removed with a rag. Now, I did read the instructions, honest , but it was some time ago; - and I did remember that the wheel must only be turned in one direction.... but I didn't quite remember which of the two possible ways it was

Also, the long sides of the boxes are probably a bit too far round the tubes - they bisect them lengthways when looking exactly side on to the bike.

Hmmm ... I think I'll have another go.

Are you sure that's the M5, Steve? I've usually had to queue for hours to get a parking space on it

You must be getting the timing wrong on your visits. It is usually fairly quiet between midnight and 0400h during the winter months. In the summer it keeps LOCAL roads clear for LOCAL people. You're not LOCAL are you?

Must be an "off the shelf" bridge design. It's identical to the one they put over the A11 near here a couple of years ago. Quite attractive, as these things go.

I booked a while ago - still need to fettle my hub in to working order though. I'm glad I've slept on it for a while as I think I've come to a sensible conclusion. I ordered some cone spanners from the Tredz sale too so I should get it sorted good and proper.

In the mean time I confess I've bought a new dedangly road bike for longer 'Sunday' rides - you won't be seeing that on the togglechain tour of course though.

Oh yes .. thanks for mentioning the bridge too. We watched it swing in to place on the webcam. We drive that way to my parents in Devon so will no doubt be going under it soon (would prefer to be sur le pont though - hopefully do that soon too).

I booked a while ago.
I shall be riding my Humber again, but with a few aesthetic improvements - including original mudguards, striping and possibly a few parts having visited the chromers.

Rob. Do you want me to measure the distance between the lines on my boxes. I measured the originals before getting the bike painted.

That would be very helpful.

- I have already done some more work on the Royal Enfield, putting in extra lengthways lines inside the boxes I painted. I plan to paint boxes on my Humber as well, so having some proper dimensions will be a great help.
