Insurance for Cycle Touring not in UK

Post by tonythompson »

I'm about to embark on a cross Australia cycle tour.My holiday insurance company have told me I would not be covered as this is a bit more than a "holiday".

Does anyone know of an insurance company would cover me for this trip?

Thanks

Post Office travel insurance is very good, cycling is covered as long as it is for transport, ie not racing or mountain biking. Single trip cover for up to 90 days or annual cover http://www2.postoffice.co.uk/travel/travel-insurance

Search online for "backpacker insurance". There are loads of firms that will happily cover extended trips.

Make sure they will repatriate your bike(s) if required. Snowcard does that.

Thanks Guys
Snowcard came up trumps £165 for 90 days across Australia by bike. Health & repatriation only.

Crossing Australia to highlight Heartburn awareness

On 9 September I will be leaving Perth Au to cycle across Australia to Sydney (or as far as I can in 2 months) this has always been one of my ambitions but also since being diagnosed with Barrett's Disease I want to highlight the dangers of letting heartburn continue too long without getting it checked out. I disguised the symptoms by taking various over the counter well advertised products. So if you have persistent heartburn or acid reflux please get it checked out. More info http://www.barrettscampaign.org.uk/
And anyone wanting to follow my progress be pleased to have you along.
