I've just spotted the seat stays on that Pashley. Such fine work...

i'm not convinced. infact, i reckon it's overpriced AND substandard..

here's a random pic of a brazed lug from a search of google images. the line of brass, the filler material, is fine, consistant and complete. just as it was on my bogstandard, gas pipe raleigh and the other, unknown, frame i've had sandblasted.

i'm not suggesting that it's not strong enough - i'd need to chop it up with a grinder to know for sure. however, i'd happily ride it fast down a cobbled hill. it's just not finely finished enough for my tastes

That's terrible! That standard of finish on a 'show' bike smacks of contempt for the buying public I'm not a trained welder/brazer but I'd be ashamed to show that off.

Completely agree. I think Pashley need to understand what they're good at. They've well and truly over-stepped their abilities with this one.

Pashley make 'quality' bikes, in the same way that Raleigh used to make 'quality' bikes. But that's all.

I always thought the "Guv'nor" (what a crap name for a bike) was over-priced nonsense aimed at people with more money than sense aka B(w)ankers. The Guy Ritchie of bicycles.
Now they've excelled themselves with the clubman.

I'm with GB and Hubbers on this.. I passed my city & guilds gas welding back in January before I shipped off to Ireland. Had my instructor seen the brazing on that head-set, he would have told me to duck off and do it again. And again. And again, until it was done properly.

If you want a "Guv'nor" or a Clubman, buy vintage Raleigh, just as good, if not better.
