It's fashioned from a piece of wood, spray painted and held on with a cable tie over a piece of inner tube

Next years ' summer bike' alloy frame and carbon fork and nice wheels, from gumtree, £15,,, gifted campag chorus cranks, it will have a Suntour Cyclone rear mech and weinmann 500 bakes , free off this site ...thanks robgul. with alloy drop bars and shimano levers ... sella italia saddle ..80's nos ....Hoping to have the bike in traffic for under £50 .... quite a change from my usual steel framed mounts.

Single bar end lever required anyone got one for sale or trade??

bike number 5.. got it yesterday on the cyclechat forum a round trip of 320 miles but worth it had to make sure it fitted me +test ride now fitted with rack+bag

i never appreciated that rear stays could vary in (at least, so much) angle because of the rear calliper.

I would suggest though, that you fix Secu-Clips (QR'S) to the front mudguards. Only £2-3 from a LBS. Better be safe than sorry. Still, I do like the way that Halfords have bent that front MG stay around the front calliper, proper home styly! Or was it you?

yes going to get the clips for the front stays ... as i am hoping to change the cassette as the one on is cs 5700 11-25 and wanting to change it to sram 11-32or 12-32 to help the old legs on the hills.. hopefully it will just be a sraight swop and a few added links in the chain..(touch wood)... the lad i got it off did the mudguards was going to move it but it works fine as it is

okay I'm bored, so, some of the older bikes
A believed late 50s 531 Carlton as told by a Carlton specialist (not fussed either way as I just like it, it might also be a Super Python..lol) Lovely wrapover seat stays, Nervex legs, Zeus dropouts, it was properly resprayed sometime late in its life to the racing green. Strangely it has modern wheel spacing at the rear though the previous owner mentioned nothing, it still had 27s on it though. Still I've had to file out the slots on the rear calipers so they reach 700C wheel rims. I've done 2 builds on this so far in the 5 years I've had it. It came with a massive Williams chainset on it (Which I think places it more 1971 going by the Williams date lettering, but there you go) and it's currently undergoing another change with some nice NOS parts; non aero levers, fluted post & cinelli stem but I'm keeping the modern brake calipers as I like stopping RED S 86mm compact chainset, Olimpic pedals, sanshin LF wheels & a variety of nice (well to me anyways) non period bits. It's a fairly light bike for it's type, a smidge over 10kg with the bag & pump

An early/mid 80s GPH Heswall cycles 531ST, Geoff Hughes provided bikes for Chris Boardman in his younger days & this was put together for a G.R. Wisbey (gold painted lettering on the top tube), no idea if he built the frames himself but this is kitted out with a mix of 6 speed Shimano 600 with Sakae compact, campag/Suntour hubs on Wolber 58s (I sold the Campag Record ones as they looked too tempting for light fingers!)

One of my babies - just a Cannondale hybrid, but I gave it a Brooks saddle, hand grips and now it feels more like "mine".
