Hi. I am going away in may with two friends and stopping at the Mullion caravan park for a week. We will be taking our road bikes and doing probably 4 days cycling (Friday arrive, cycle Sat & Sun, Monday rest. Tues, weds Ride, Thursday rest & Pack, Friday return). I have put together 3 circular routes that head to towns/places we would like to visit or have visited and liked when on holiday etc. but having never cycled down there before they are just rough plans at the moment with regards to what roads to use. By road bike I mean 23mm tyre 100+ psi full on lycra clad energy gel tour of the South Western tip so no off roading or gravel paths as an option.
Would anyone familiar with cycling the area be willing to cast an eye over the routes which I can email in Google earth kml format or GPX format. If there is a way I can host them publicly somebody knows I would be happy to upload them for all to see.
Thanks
Martin

Yes, I'll cast an eye, and no doubt others will do too.

Re: Offer advice my circular Cornwall road routes please
Thanks for the replys. I will upload now. I have settled on two routes for now as I wasn't happy with the third route. We decided we will also plan when down there but I will upload all three now anyway...
Re: Offer advice my circular Cornwall road routes please
Ok hope this works. Aim is to use car as little as possible but would load bikes if there was some must do rides within a reasonable drive of Mullion
Here is the 1st. Mullion to St Ives
http://bikeroutetoaster.com/Course.aspx?course=352828 Possibly a little busy but I hope it will be a good day in the saddle
2nd Mullion to Falmouth
http://bikeroutetoaster.com/Course.aspx?course=352829 Hope this route will be as good as it looks on google earth....
Final (not happy with this one at all) Mullion to Lands end
http://bikeroutetoaster.com/Course.aspx?course=352831 Really want to do a lands end loop but this looks like too much back tracking on the same roads. Trying to avoid A roads where possible
Thanks,
Martin

Re: Offer advice my circular Cornwall road routes please
They are all good, particularly if it's not in school holidays.
Roads are generally narrow but most drivers are considerate. Main problem on small side roads is that local drivers tend to nip along them fairly smartish, but luckily most are too twisty to cause too many problems.
Road maintenance on minor roads has been a bit lacking so watch for potholes and rough patches.

Thanks Dodger. I ride a lot of back lanes and rat runs where I live as I am not really a fast tarmac rider due to those roads always having a high volume of traffic. Really looking forward to getting back down my favorite county. We checked that the kids were not off when we booked this to get better rates and enjoy a quieter time
