I think that because of the political nature of the voting (i.e UK is generally disliked , and that many countries have strong support for their geographical neighbours or historical cousins) the UK entry is currently at least, destined to be doomed. However it's been great fun over the last few years watching us go through every possible option trying different tactics and songs. Good luck to Englebert - I've heard worse.

After daveg's suggestion of Vera Lynn, Perhaps in 2014 we can bring Bucks Fizz back.

Considering how many of he forum membership have bus passes - or nearly have bus passes - B&Q Diamond cards etc., I'm a bit surprised nobody has had much to say about EH from his first time around. My dear old dad was going through one of several periods of quite severe mental illness at the time and one of the manifestations was buying Please release me, let me go... I'm not saying that buying the record was a symptom of mental illness but rather the fact that he bought quite a few copies. If anybody is going by this man's record of selling records*, my dear old dad isn't still with us to ratchet up the sales this time around, so past performance is no indicator of the future. Joking aside, even the title of this song reminds me of those days. We never did find out what the significance of the words was for him because he was still happily married to my mother when he died nearly two decades later.

I must admit I'm not really a fan of Graham Norton at all, but I find his narration for this programme not only bearable but actually quite funny. On a positive note, when the T family watch the show, my son uses his atlas to find the countries. Useful for Dad as well to try and make sense of the complications as to what has happened behind the former Iron Curtain Geography was a lot easier in the 80s....
