Flying Scotsman by Graeme Obree. Facinating insight into the mind of a troubled genius. He couldn't half ride a bike too. Still can!

Eothen by Alexander Kinglake is a gem of a book. no bikes, but the same spirit of travel in the 1840's. Written with a surprisingly modern-seeming wit and sarcasm.
currently i am reading David Byrne :bicycle diaries and really enjoying it . It is not about the bike, but what he describes and discusses could really only be seen from a bike.

Some time ago I read a book about two guys and a girl who set off riding across Africa. Eventually they left the girl.
Both of the lads contributed to the book sometimes covering the same events from their own perspective.
I can't remember the title. Does anyone know the book to which I refer?

Hi bc, I think you're referring to "Discovery Road" by Tim Garratt and Andy Brown.
They cycled across Australia, Africa and South America.

A great read, indeed.
