Race Across America

Has anyone here on the forum competed in the Race Across America? If so I'd be interetsed in hearing your thoughts about the experience either by private message or as open topic

Solo or team?

It's an expensive business as you've got to have 2 accompanying camper vans and a support team of half a dozen or so. Plus there's qualifying, with most of the events being over in the US.

Teethgrinder over on YACF thought about it, but last I heard was thinking about having a go at Tommy Godwin's mileage record (75,065 miles in a year) as a more affordable alternative.

Thanks, I didn't know you had to qualify and assumed in a team of 4-6 cyclists plus support team you could split the costs evenly and it wouldn't be more than a couple of grand each.

For me taking a year off work to cycle 200 miles each day woudld be very unaffordable and doesn't sound like much fun
