some more routes to perus - chepstow thru to whalley

Post by mcgroa »

finding this plotting malarky getting dull.

Day 3- chepstow to church stretton - more or less up A49

Day 4- church stretton to northwich - again following A49 ish

Day 5- northwich to whalley. this was based on someone elses route, but i think ive avoided more built up crap this way.

if anyone has any good inspired rec's for alternatives between ludlow/church stretton and whalley would love to hear - somehow tempted to drop into chester for a night to make this bit more interesting. Whalley is a definite stop point, and I have 2 days to get there from Ludlow/Church Stretton.

Chester definitely more interesting than Northwich

If you want to make it more interesting then how about using the Mersey Ferry. Lot more fun than Runcorn bridge or Warrington

The route you have from Westhoughton to and over Tockholes are some right climbs, I would stick to the A6 from Westhoughton, cycle up the A6 through Chorley then head over through Wheelton (junction 8 M61) and come out by Witton Park in Blackburn.

If you let me know the date that this leg is I can meet you somewhere close to Westhoughton, I Live in Blackburn.

Hi

After crossing the Mersey, head North along the river via Bootle, Crosby and Formby. From Formby head inland on the B5195 towards Ormskirk. Around the A5147 you can pick up the Lancashire (not Lancaster) Cycle Way Route 91 clockwise to Rufford and Croston. Through Leyland, Whittle-le-woods, Samlesbury Bottoms, Mellor, Ramsgreave, York and Whalley. (Not The Yorkshire York)

If you follow Route 91 through Leyland you'll pass my front door, I'll make tea and cakes for you. :)

Or whittle Le Woods, outskirts of Bamber Bridge, pick up the guild Wheel to circumvent Preston and pick up route 6 north toward Lancaster, why make life difficult and climb over York/Whalley
