Initially I was tempted, then I remebered the barriers on the cylcetrack that I use for my commute. I don't need to dismount as my drops fit through.

Flat bars are always harder and, when it comes to negotiating barriers, I believe his specific bike has form.

Probably the sort of bike where you might come a cropper when out for a spin.

I just saw this news story tonight. Made me chuckle, but fair play to him, at least some good comes out of this and a decent chunk of cash goes to charity. A decent end to this ridiculous affair, where all involved ended up looking like pillocks.

But what really made me chuckle is what an absolute pile of s### that bike looks! Maybe we aren't paying cabinet ministers a decent wage?! Also the eagle eyed observer will note that it is not road legal either - perhaps the police should have spent more time looking a at the bike and less time (alledgedy) fabricating stories about his behaviour!!!

Pedal and front reflectors. Not a hanging offence I'll agree

Do the regulations that apply to the sale of new bikes in shops actually apply to secondhand sales?

I didnt think that they did, even if they did that wouldnt make the bike illegal.

I reckon there is NO offence.

Perhaps somebody can refresh my memory: was it dark at the time of the gategate scandal or was it simply a case of thick fog? :?
