Training messgae on helmets

The BMA have rather had their noses rubbed in their own policies this last week, with last week's issue of the BMJ having a paper showing how mandatory helmet laws have had no positive effect on cyclist injuries. The edtors took the unusual step of commissioning a refutation to publish alongside the article, but it was comprehensively rubbished by everyone that wrote in, and attracted no support whatsoever. http://bmj.bmjjournals.com/cgi/eletters/332/7543/725

The more comprehensive rebuttals have been asked for in edited form for the next print edition, so maybe they'll get the message...

I find any comments regarding cycle sport and helmet wear, quite irrelevant to utility cyclists. It is obvious that in cycling as in nearly all sports, the desire to avoid accident or injury is frequently reduced by the will to win, or at least perform well. Many sport cyclists seem to regard falling off as "part of the game".
