I've been a malt loaf addict for many years now, both for cycling and mountaineering and I need to add butter to enable me to lubricate my jaw sufficiently so that I can chew it. Have you tried the Plum loaf? Awesome!

Is that a variety of Malt loaf? sounds good, Talking of food it's chippy night must go and see what Mrs FW wants

it rarely survives as far back as Bradford, it's generally devoured post-race, whilst scraping the mud off the legs, & emptying water out of the Inov-8s

It was here recently, but has gone up to 77p in local Co-Op!!


Out of the 'own brands', personally speaking, I've only found ASDA's to be acceptable, usually in a white wrapper, with a purple lable; Knightsbridge

Back on topic, while I like malt loaf, it is a bit messy to eat and it doesn't take well to getting squished at the bottom of a pannier.

Just come back from a shop at Aldi, and now know what the fuss is about - you're right, very tasty. Will try a couple of slices next time I potter up Cumnor Hill to see if the 'rocket fuel' claim is true, too!

Humdrum, no Soreen in this neck of the bois. We do get moist pain d'épices, which is like gingerbread without the ginger. But I could always ask Mrs. A to whip up a Dundee cake...
