New tent offer

Post by foxyrider »

Lidl have a few 2 man tents with a claimed 1.5kg weight available for @ £30. Small pack size and looking not dissimilar to the Vaude Taurus series - might be worth a look if you are on a tight budget :)
Convention? what's that then?

Be aware that the tent is single skin and will suffer from condensation on the inner surface of the flysheet. It'll be fine for the odd night away but isn't something that I'd use for more than a couple of nights away.

Hi,
I did buy one some time back.

Fibre glass poles, break 1st time you errect, fiddly to errect, single skin, limited head room.

I would invest in a better made tent I.M.O.
Edited - Sorry I might have the wrong tent, Lidl have sold both in the last few weeks, I am not talking of the dome type tent here, I am sure thats heavier any way.
They are doing a pop up on the 19th, that has fibreglass poles too  They will not last long, fibreglass is very heavy despite the claims.

Sleeping bags at 1500 grams will do well for three season and are cheap at £ 15 on the 19th.

The web page doesn't have any of the specs on those so I suppose I'll have to actually go look. :)

Hydrostatic head on the tent is 1500...typical tents are 5000-10000.
So it will be better than wrapping yourself in a towel. But sustained rain or pitched on wet ground? I think not.

Well I could say the opposite - nothing good:
too heavy for backpacking,
inside has to be build first - gets wet in rain,
you can find better for same price...
