long sleeves for a summer shirt

I was thinking of buying a Yorkshire TdF top or one of the whiskey tops at Edinburgh bike shop, but like most summer tops they don't have sleeves. I do a couple of tours a year in France and like long sleeves to keep sunburn off as burning would happen quickly in somewhere like Provence. I could use suncream but I'd rather have sleeves as they are more reliable and don't need replacing during the course of the day (I have burn through not reapplying). Arm warmers would be an option but a rather hot one. What do others do?

I set an alarm for sunscreen, or I do have a couple of long-sleeve cycling jerseys - but they look like cycling jerseys so aren't much good for everyday cycling unless I know there'll be time to get changed. I've been considering one of the Craghoppers long-sleeved shirts with SolarDry or SolarShield but they're not cheap and the local retailer (Mountain Warehouse) has just annoyed me by moving from the High Street to a car-centric edge-of-town retail park so I'm not sure if I want to buy from them. I'd also love to know what others find works well.

What do others do?

Use Riemann P20 in either the SPF 20, 30 or 50 strength depending on your skin and where you are.
Its a genuine once a day waterproof sweat proof non-greasy sun cream. It works. I do use a hat/helmet to protect the scalp as I'm a bit (very) thin on top.
I haven't found a better sun cream for active days out, put it on the am and forget about it.
I think I heard about it on this forum and I'd recommend it for sunnier trips and even Scotland given our current heatwave

I recommend P20 too (it was recommended to me by a friend who sails) - put it on first thing & it lasts all day. I've used it in the Pyrenees in wall to wall summer sunshine (late June so about as strong as it gets) & a friend used it for the Marathon des Sables ( a crazy multi-day ultra marathon in the Sahara Desert).

If you want long sleeves you can get "Summer sleeves" (such as these Mavic ones) to wear with a short sleeve jersey to give added sun protection.

You can also get ones that are sold as golf sleeves which may (or may not) be cheaper, but seem to be a similar thing.

I've done a fair bit of touring in the USA in summer temps up to 100f. I use a loose fitting long sleeved running top. Sometimes along with thin 3/4 cycling shorts so I don't need to sunscreen my thighs either.

Here's a start of tour pic on the right along with an end of tour pic on the left. The top several shades lighter and me a couple of stone lighter. I've go a white long sleeve top as well which blends in better in off bike situations.

Arm warmers.
Buy light weight ones. Full sleeve jersesy tend to be for colder conditions and are usually not as thin as a summer one. am working on the idea if there is enough sun to burn then it will be warm. I find that it gets too hot for sleeves before I need to block the sun. Arm warmers also have the virtues of being easy to remove on the move. I use white ones from Prendas.
