Take the first item listed, that Gatorskin tyre is £23.99 and save 20% on both. It doesn't help that Wiggle aren't the cheapest online store for cycling stuff now anyway. I've not used the CTC shop for years as it's no longer a member benefit.

In some cases there were offers and discounts on the main site that did not appear on the CTC page

The CTC "discount" was in fact a higher price

Another oversight, will we ever uncover a Machiavellian plot  .

I've just tried to buy something from http://www.ctcshop.org.uk - I've never used it before - but it doesn't recognise my membership number in the checkout process. Is it still working? The 'Validate Membership' page has a link to 'How to get membership' which contains information only about British Triathlon...

The CTC shop has disappeared from the national web site. Although the shop site appears to be active - it isn't. When I asked, I was told by someone at National that the CTC shop is not coming back again and that, instead, National is negotiating a discount for CTC members in the Wiggle shop.

I've asked a couple of times that members/member groups be told what's happening (since we, for one, were embarrassed to be over-selling the benefit of CTC membership) but nothing's happened so far.

I see that "Your club shop" has now appeared on the CTC www

http://www.yourclubshop.co.uk/Category/ ... ng-Charity

Thinks: Shouldn't that be "Your charity shop?"

That looks to me as if it's just an alternative front-end for Imp Sport with no "member benefit" ?

After failure to complete an order on the Wiggle website by use of my CTC membership number and as yet non-reply from Wiggle I received this reply from CTC head office. I think we can say that outsourcing has not worked well in this instance. From the limited information given Wiggle have behaved badly.

Thank you for your enquiry regarding the CTC Wiggle shop. For the last few years Wiggle have provided a discount to members of organisations such as CTC via a dedicated branded shop. Wiggle have decided to cease supporting this function as it created a large amount of work for them and a large proportion of their products on their standard Wiggle website are sold at a discount higher than the discount offered to member.

However we are in dialogue with Wiggle about offering CTC members a discount on products on the Wiggle site and it was envisaged that this would be a seamless transition from the old CTC branded site. That hasn’t happened and therefore members do not get a preferential discount over and above the discounted prices on the Wiggle website. We hope to be able to announce details of this new arrangement shortly.

... if you were Mr Wiggle (or any other big online operation - like the one that reacts to chains) would you be interested in investing time, technology etc AND giving a bigger discount to the (small) CTC potential marketplace (who would probably still buy from Wiggle regardless) ?

I think I know what I'd be doing I were Mr Wiggle . . .

The constant plugging in Cycle Clips every week for the "special deal" with Cotswold makes me laugh - even at the special CTC prices Cotswold is a lot more expensive than anyone else (even Evans!) for everything I've ever considered.
