MTB gloves are for protection rather than keeping you warm. They are like track mitts but full fingered. However, they give enough protection from the cold at this time of year. I have a pair of Pearl Izumi ones with leather palms.

These work well for me and last:

They were warm enough even in midwinter.

These Extremities Velo Glove are a good tough and warm glove, not too bulky either, you can pick them up for about £17 elsewhere on the web, not a padded palm as such but a hard wearing grippy surface.

Extremities windstopper fleecy gloves are also good ,10% off both the above with CTC membership at Cotswold.

I've been using these if I wear gloves in the summer....99p !.....never mind the quality etc.

I have small hands and the size 8 fits me perfectly.

Craft Storm ! brilliant gloves , a bit pricy ( £32) but have kept my hands warm and dry in the worst of the weather .

Gloves are gloves and padding is trial and error - too many variables to say what works for one will work for another.

You pay your money, you make your choice, you put your gloves on, you ride your bike - and repeat as necessary.

What is the maximum temperature at which these remain tolerably comfortable, in your view?

It is slightly strange that the Tempesta, for warmer weather, is even more expensive than the Estremo.

Unfortuantely I have a broken ankle at present and haven't been on my bike for 6 weeks so can't tell you accurately! I think once it gets to single figures they are good to go. They kept me warm and dry all through the winter
