Wot no helmet?
Wot no helmet?
I've just been watching a BBC2 programme, Grand Tours of the Scottish Islands, and couldn't help noticing the presenter cycling with surprisingly little head protection.
Re: Wot no helmet?
AIUI they are obliged (the presenters) to wear one so it would be good to have some details. How old was the programme?

Had to look up what AIUI stands for, "As I understand it".

This was quoted in an older forum post. It is a bit open to interpretation but AFAIR (sorry Colin P!) they interpret it quite strictly.

If you want to see BBC guidelines flouted and reflouted, how about the otherwise excellent Treasures of the Indus? In the 3rd episode Dr Sona Datta is repeatedly shown zipping around Tamil Nadu on a motor scooter whilst not wearing a helmet. Maybe that's a less dangerous activity than riding a bicycle is here...

Maybe the programme was made by another company and bought by the BBC.
