Loose Headset.

I have an old renovated mtb fitted with 1" threaded forks. Generally once a month I have to readjust the headset.
As I understand it, this problem an be reduced if your forks can take a tabbed washer . . unfortunately mine can't.
So I was wondering if blue locktite would help, or is there another solution.
