Maps for Spain

In addition to using the internet I would like to have some maps for cycle touring in Spain. The current plan is to cross Spain from Roncvevalles in the Pyrenees to Alicante. Any suggestions please of maps I can buy (Stanfords?) before I go.

I've always used Michelin too. Roads are more spread out on Spain so if you don't see much on the map it probably means there isn't a (road bike useable) road there. We've cycled the roncevalles pass and several other western ones. Also love the national park of ordesa and the picos but haven't been as Far East as Alicante.

Further west - Aragon. It's the usual problem, big enough to show the smaller roads and not too big to carry!

Viewranger have a fairly good Android or Apple downloadable 1:200,000 topographical mapping of the whole of Spain for £27 (or individual regions for less), if you want it on paper it is possible to print out the areas you need from a PC but involves a bit of work.

I know you wanted paper maps. But I've cycled around Spain using maps.me it's free and you download the map before you go so it doesn't require a data connection. I did carry a conventional paper map as nice to be able to see the whole picture but I didn't use it much.

Short of buying very expensive local survey maps, which are all very small, the Michelin Zoom mapping are the best available mapping for road navigation. Not perfect, but best there is. But they only cover selected regions. They do cover both the Pyrenees and the east coast down to Alicante, and the Madrid region. But if you take a straightish line through the middle you'll have some areas where only smaller scale options are available. At the moment the best option is to take the relevant pages out of the Michelin road Atlas; that's the plan for France anyway!
