BA used to give away free plastic bags - but no longer - as discovered today!
Did I miss this "news"? No mention in recent "Bikes Abroad" article in CTC mag.
Believe they are obtainable from other source at a modest price. Anyone know it?
Plastic cycling bags for airline flights

They are available through CTC shop at £4 less member discount. I don't know if it was a mistake but when I bought 2 I actually got 4 as each 'bag' was 2 folded together.
They are very tough and big enough to take the bike with wheels in place.

I used one of these and took my bag to Heathrow all nicely taped up and then because the bike would not fit through the scanner the security people wanted to check inside the bag. Fortunately they only cut a smallish hole and I had spare tape with me. It might be an idea to leave part of the bag open until they have checked it and to take spare tape. (I used that red and white "Fragile" tape which is nice and conspicuous). I was really pleased with the bag method because it is light and was easy to dispose of at the other end.
