Yes doubling down is really one of the most annoying thing in recent broadcasts.

There's a clickbait heading in the BBC England news page

Robber jailed for attacking girl, 13, over phone

Click the clickbait and it was a violent attack during a robbery involving the phone

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-n ... e-63677067

ie I misread "over the phone" to mean the suspect achieved a result during a phone call

It was "basgetti' in our house when the children were little
When one of our children was little we had a washing shamine. I quite miss it.

When our older daughter was little - she's 47 now - asked what our dog, "Sally" was doing, she was told, "She's investigating."
From then on, Sally was invergestinating!

Ending a sentence in "though" in a certain way and stress.

Possessive apostrophes of plurals.

Ladies' shoes ........... for instance, boys' caps, or dogs' dinners?

Why don't people use the "S Apostrophe" these days?

I know very little about George Bernard Shaw.
Did he not use possessive apostrophes of plurals?

He was well known for his aversion to apostrophes in all circumstances, arguing that they were a needless complication which most people usually used or failed to use incorrectly.

When we were at skool, it was explained very clearly about the difference between ..........

The boys caps, the boy's caps, and the boys' caps.

First tells you nothing.
Second tells you that a single boy has more than one cap.
The third tells you that there is more than one boy, and they have a cap or more each.

George Bernard Shaw was one of the most influential playwrights in the first half of the 20C. A gap in your schooling, perhaps.
