altimeter/inclinometer

i've just seen in the latest ctc magazine that a computer with an altimeter is available; set me to thinking that i would like an inclinometer to read off gradients and explain why your speed seems slow on what does not appear much of a gradient and the reverse: when you should be slowing on what looks to be an uphill slope you are whizzing along; it's not the wind as i encounter 2 such slpoes on my commute. don't quite see how one of these could be practical, but if anyone knows of one could they let me know

Well in that case a Wind scale measurement
would also be useful; it seems pretty steep to me sometimes against the wind.
1 inclinometer
2 Ws ometer

I bought an odometer for various simple calculations and it makes a huge difference to cycling pleasure. I live in the South West. going home is downhill and with the wind all the way.
I know how to measure that but only very roughly.

Wind speed measurement against measured cycling speed would be a great blessing as I cycle West wards and then eastwards back. Is there such a thing?

The computer reviewed (Ciclomaster CM434) does include gradient in it's functions, but it only does whole percentages (ie height change in last 100m), so it may not be precise enough for a false flat unless you watch the height for longer distances.
There used to exist (and mat still if you look hard enough) inclinometers for bikes, that worked along the lines of a spirit level, but they are cr@p

Just treat it as one of life's little pleasures/pitfalls. Alternatively, spend hours pouring over the route with a 1:50000 scale map and plot the gradient to make your own route card.
