Cateye Cyclosimulator

Post by turboted »

My Cateye Cyclosimulator (Turbo trainer) spent several hours in flood water. It now works OK but the aluminium rear roller bearings are very, very noisy. Did a basic strip down and used WD 40 where it seemed appropriate, but this made no difference.
Anyone any experience of this. Don't want to scrap the Cyclosimulator as even after 20 years use it's still a great training tool.

WD40 may be good for dispelling water and as a releasing agent but it's a poor lubricant. Try a less volatile lubricant, eg. 3-in-one.

Thanks Tim, I think the issue is that the bearings are sealed and therefore 'non serviceable', hence getting any lubricant in there is very difficult.
Also, with the Cyclosimulator, and it's parts, being out of production for so long I may well be out of luck. I live in hope.
