I am thinking of going over to Dieppe for a few days for the Raid.
Is there an allocated campsite or just the official sites?

I'm pretty sure that each person has to make their own accommodation booking, whether based at a campsite or guest house.
If you'd like to have a look at this website, http://www.dieppetour.com/event.php, there's some useful information about the event. Once registered, for a fee of £6, the organiser can send you the route sheets and you may be eligible for discounted ferry tickets.

We are going but staying in town (not camping). I would email the organiser and ask her which campsite people tend to use, she would know.

Thanks for the comments.
My wife liked the idea and offered to drive over for a few days so booked an airbnb and also get to ride. Perfect.

The organisers recommended accommodation for us so well worth contacting them. I rode the event in 2014 and wrote a short blog that maybe of interest, I included links to a map of each route with GPS download, for sure each may have changed for the 2016 version but it may give you an idea. A great weekend, highly recommend it

Sitting here with rain lashing the window and a heavy cold your blog and photos really made me smile. Looking forward to warm rides and Dieppe.
Thanks

I use them as a diary to look back on at the very same reason Robert8! I'm currently sitting here eating my breakfast waiting to join the merry circus that is my hour and a half commute on the A22 in my Ford Focus; pining for that summer bike ride!

At this time of year it's easy to forget the simple joys of experiencing a stunning view for the very first time on a summer tour, I often make a point of saying to my friends at that time "we must remember this very moment".... The sun and breeze on your face, rolling along a new road, enjoying a cycle with my mates. I even like the gentle sound that bikes make, for me it's like Pavlov's dog theory, if I can hear that sound it means I'm having a great time; maybe I should record it and play it back in the car! That said bikes seem to make a completely different sound when I'm hanging to a club mates back wheel before they drop me on a climb  !
