Re: Touring Cyclist Club .... a new resource

It's sounding more and more like something that's driven by CTC factional politics - a resource for CTC traditionalists who've got the hump.

Cycling's answer to the Baden Powell Scouts? Hopefully you'll prove me wrong.

Perhaps a little harsh.

It's no secret that the initiative has come about as a result of the well-documented issues with CTC over the past few years but the objective is to offer an alternative. With most things in life people have a choice - the new club is another choice to consider.

[You learn something every day - I didn't know about the Baden-Powell Scouts' Association ... but then that was only formed in 1970, about 8 years after my scouting days finished (Patrol Leader, 28th Epping Forest)]

Any news on the progress of Dennis's and Rob's 'Touring Cycling Club'?

I've paid the very small membership fee, but haven't heard much since.

Thank Rob. I also got a swanky email yesterday. The agenda looks very exciting and very logical. I'm impressed. Sadly I can't make it up to the Midlands but I'm looking forward to hearing how it all goes.

Best wishes

You could always exercise your rights under s.324 of the Companies Act 2006 and appoint a proxy to attend on your behalf  .

Hopefully the TCC will make that clear when they send the official notice of the meeting, as required by s.325  .

borders wrote:Rob, I hope you don't mind a little suggestion for your website. You have no meta title and your meta description is simply "Touring Cyclist Club". This really isn't good from a Google ranking and search point of view. If you need any guidance drop me a pm. Best wishes.

Thanks - sorting the meta title etc was on the "To Do" list - it's now done! We've added a description to the meta title and other tag words that may or may not get picked up. [It's all on a "global/every page" basis in the CMS configuration rather than individual content items]

Searching a moment ago with Mr Google for : touring cyclist - is bringing us in at #1 in the listing.

Well done, Cycling UK is 2nd
But if you search for "Cycle Touring" it doesn't make it to the first three pages, Cycling UK and British Cycling both on the first page 4th and 6th
So still some work to do

I work in the web design marketplace and it's amazing the number of people that "think" they know what people are actually searching for on Google. 99% of the time they are way off the mark lol

That's interesting, so what do you think the words people are likely to be searching? If interested in cycle touring?
Our CTC MG website got a lot more interest when it introduced the word leisure to whatever it is goes on behind the front page.

We're not really interested in having an argument about websites and searching - too busy enjoying cycling in the cool but pleasant current weather!

The meta stuff was only added/updated about an hour ago so unlikely to have been gathered by many bots yet.

OK - it looked a bit like a "Mine's bigger than yours!" discussion :)

I have dropped you a PM.

Date is in the diary. All being well I shall be there.
There is your way. There is my way. But there is no "the way".
