A pingerless ping bell? (I saw one but where to buy?)

During the Giro a bike shop had some Ping bells with no Pinger: you simply hit the Dome. I didn't buy one because they were pink but they never got any different coloured ones and now have none...
Does anyone know where these are sold (and what they are called) ?

I've seen ones where you twist the bell (like on London Cycle Hire bikes)
http://www.evanscycles.com/products/hoy ... l-ec122322 http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/produ ... assic_BellMany UK online bike shops suck at bells because they're mostly focused on sports and they think such cyclists don't need bells

CRC make you select "City" to even see the category!
I looked at a few Dutch and German shops and didn't spot one. If it's anywhere, it'll be there, among some rather odd things like

It is easy to remove the pinger on all ping bells I have seen. Just unscrew the dome, remove pinger, replace dome. Nothing to stop you hitting the dome. Will this do?

I may be missing the point here, but what is the point of a ping bell without the ping?

One less bit to get broken when someone clips your bike in a cycle park. BTDTGTTS. The bell still rings if it is designed to work without a pinger.

Does it have a pinger or gong of some sort inside then? And if so how does your finger/knuckle/whatever-applying-the-blow not instantly deaden the ringing?

The ones I've seen have inside pingers and delay the strike until the finger has released and moved clear somehow. I just can't find any on sale now

Interesting concept. If you do find one, I could be tempted.

Not quite pinger less but these are simple and don't have anything that could break easily/are sturdy.

Also not pingerless (hell the cycling quest for shaving stuff

) but can recommend. Very small so fits on crowded bars. I can't see it breaking anytime soon, or anyone bothering to nick it/interfere with it. And if they do, a replacement will cost less than the bus tickets you didn't buy cos you went by bike.
