Choosing a Brompton bag

Hi all

Wondering if anyone can guide me through the puzzling options for Brompton bags...
https://bromptonjunction.com/product-ca ... ssic-bags/

I have S handlebars - but I infer that I'm not restricted to the 'S' bag, since there is also a 'T' bag but no T handlebars - is that right?

Also there is an option to get a bag without 'flap' and without 'frame'. What do those two components do? I'm assuming the flap is essential for rainproofing; except that they sell the option to have it without, so maybe it's not?

Thanks for any help - mighty confused since the website seems to be written for their technical team rather than a customer!

Edward

According to the Brompton web site you have 4 bag options with the S type handlebars:

- Brompton S bag
- Brompton Game bag (expensive)
- O bag (also quite expensive)
- Mini O bag (rather small)

The T bag and C bag aren't recommended with the S handlebars.

You would normally buy the S bag complete with flap and frame. The flap provides protection from the weather, and the frame gives the bag its shape, and provides the receptacle for the Brompton carrier block, so it will attach to the bike. The bag is available without these parts so that you can minimise the cost of replacement if its fabric gets worn.

Hope this helps

ps: I don't work for Brompton

What's your use case? For office commuter use, I've heard friends speak very highly of the Carradice bags - IIRC they do an S-frame specific bag, though you will need to buy the frame separately from Brompton.

A quick Google suggests it's the one in this review: http://velovoice.blogspot.co.uk/2014/11 ... g-for.html

Thanks both for such helpful answers. Matlockmark, you did better with their website than I did!

I'll definitely look at the Carradice: I'm dead impressed with their stuff in general.

Much appreciated,
