Rear Wheel Maint. Stand-For Cannondale Synapse- advise pls

Post by RideToWorky »

Hiya All,

Looking forward to getting my Cannondale Synapse 105 Carbon next month
Entry level, 2015 non disc model, just got in sale!

Will use for summer commuting. Thank goodness for cycle to work scheme, else wouldn't be able to ever get kit like this 8)

Better look after the drive chain better than my commuter hybrid though.
The hybrid went though winter, with wet lube, and the whole lot is caked in cack.

Rear Wheel Maintenance Stand - for Cannondale Synapse - Advice Please
Not looking for a full on bike stand just yet, budget not allow etc.

Looking for a stable stand that simply lifts the rear wheel off the ground, so I can do quick regular cleaning of the chain and rest of drive chain moving parts.

However, I see the rear chain and seat stays tubing bulges out. They have that vibration control funny horizontal flattened out tube shape. Not sure if the Halfords "2 hook stands" etc will go over these etc

Can you advise on anything that would work?

Kind Regards
Martin

A loop of rope from a garage roof beam to hook the saddle into?
.....I happily clamp frame tubes of my metal bikes in an ancient workstand, but I'm not sure stuff like that is recommended for carbon

Remember, anything you do (or don't do) to your bike can have safety implications

hhhmmm good idea!

I have to check if I actually have any usable ceiling beams. Probably not thinking about it

Last time I did stuff like that was using String as horozontal plumb lines to align motorbike wheels!

It's what I did in the shed at home, a short length of rope to give some height adjustment but mostly saddle over a beam that was wrapped in bubble wrap to protect the saddle.
