Trek FX 7.3 (Bar ends)

Hello
I am thinking of buying this bike.
A question though.
I hear there is a problem fitting Trek bikes with bar ends (extensions).
I use extensions on my current bike (Iron horse), and these are absolutely essential for me, giving another(comfortable) choice of riding position.

Any thoughts please.

Cheers Andrew

if so surely Trek would be able to advise?

But practically speaking there are only two likely reasons for this I think;

1) that there isn't enough room to slide the controls inwards on the bars to make room and/or

2) the ends of the handlebars are made lightweight/thin-walled and just are not strong enough to have something else clamped to them.

In either event the vendor/Trek ought to be able to advise if the model of handlebar that is fitted (in the five minutes when they built the bike you are thinking of buying....) is suitable or not.

The worst case is that you would have to have different handlebars as well as bar ends. Changing handlebars at the point of sale is commonplace, no big issue there, I'd have said.

cheers

OK
Thanks for your thoughts.
I am sure there will be a way to sort this out ,after all the beauty of bikes is there customisation potential.

Cheers
