O.L.N. V O.L.D - Meaning?

My frame includes in its specification the phrase "OLD 135mm"

Spa Cycles includes in its phrasing for wheel building "The Deore rear hub has an OLN of 135mm"

Do these phrases have the same meaning, to all intents and purposes?

Many thanks for your enlightenment - Richard

I think these are the same: Over Lock Nut and Over Locknut Dimension.

Agreed, though I hadn't heard OLD until the last ten years or so. I think OLD is more common in the US. The two main places I've seen it have been Sheldon Brown and Surly.

Yes, it's at least North American. I never heard OLN until I started using this forum

I wonder if it's because North America adopted used 'locknut' in preference to 'lock nut' earlier than the UK? I had a look using the Google Books corpus and recent usage of locknut vs lock nut is roughly 4:1 in American English compared to 2:1 in British English.

Think I've too much time on my hands...
